# Subtraction of mixed number with different denominators

- Steps in method 1:
- 1. Change mixed numbers to fractions
- 2. Find the least common denominator(LCD) of two fractions.
- 3. Make the same denominator to each fraction.
- 4. Keep the same denominator, and subtract numerators.

- Steps in method 2:
- 1. Change the mixed number to a whole number and a fraction.
- 2. Add a parenthses to the subtracted mixed number which need to be changed to a whole number and a fraction.
- 3. Combine two whole numbers and combine two fractions.
- 4. Find the least common denominator(LCD) for the two fractions.
- 5. Perform arithmetic operation on numerators only when each fraction has the same denominator.
- 6. If the numerator is greater than the denominator, then write the fraction as a mixed number.
