In the figure below, the length of AB is 12, point C lies between point A and point B. If the length of AC is one third of the length of AB, what is the length of BC?

AB = 12 (Given)
AC = AB ÷ 3 = 12 ÷ 3 = 4
BC = AB - AC = 12 - 4 = 8
The length of BC is 8.
