Common Factors

Example:
Find the common factors of 36, and 60
Solution:
36 = 1 × 36, 2 × 18, 3 × 12, 4 × 9, 6 × 6
Therefore, factors of 36 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 36.
60 = 1 × 60, 2 × 30, 3 × 20, 4 × 15, 5 × 12, 6 × 10
Therefore, factors of 60 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 60.
Therefore, the common factors of 36 and 60 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12
Note:
The purpose of using the common factors is to simplify fraction.
When numerator and denominator divide by the greatest common factor, the fraction is the simplest form of the original fraction.
