Example 4 of how to find an ellipse equation

The center of a circle is at the origin. The circle has an equation x2 + y2 = 9. P is a point on the circle. PD is perpendicular to the x-axis at the point D. Extended DP to M to make MD : PD = 4 : 3. Find the equation of the locus M.
